‘Academy for Actors of Civil Change’ is a social compromise project in which we participate since 2017. It is an international educational program held once a year, with a duration of two weeks the academy hosts 40 young professionals from 8 different countries. It provides the opportunity to train professionals in the social, educational and artistic fields.

For five consecutive years, we have participated in the program as trainers with our methodology
‘Metamosphosis: Art for Transformation’.
This project, created by Pro Progressione, was born with the intention of improve the skills of professionals in the socio-educational field, youth workers and people working with underprivileged groups. The program generates an exchange of knowledge that invites to learn and experiment new socio-artistic practices.
Some of the tools we work with are: theater in education, work with masks and objects, psychology, sociology,
music and other disciplines.
- CONTINUOS LEARNING
Throughout these years we have had the opportunity to expand our training with professionals in the field, while testing the facilitation of different workshops and, therefore, obtain feedback from participants to further develop our methodology and skills as facilitators.

THEATRE FOR EMPOWERMENT
In 2017 the project was divided in two parts: a first part of exchange of artistic tools of intervention carried out in Budapest (Hungary), and a second part of direct intervention with the population.
We had the opportunity to go to Felsővadász, a small village where its inhabitants are living under the poverty threshold and in a situation of social exclusion.
There, we could carry out the workshop ‘Theatre for empowerment’, working with childhood in order to generate a space of non-judgement and freedom.

NO WORDS, NO JUDGEMENT
In this workshop we experienced a sensory journey traveling around the different cultures of the world. Through taste, touch, smell and others senses we discovered other ways of communicating and feeling without the need to use verbal language, which was not present during the workshop. Accordingly, no language was used as a communicative tool, we were forced to find ourselves in a less judicious and in a more inclusive way.
The participants had the opportunity to create their own sensory journey and they ere able to research the different existing communication tools beyond the words.

COMIC THEATRE: SOCIAL CONFLICTS FROM AN ARTISTIC VIEW
Using comic theatre and different artistic tools we explored some social conflicts we have, no matter who we are or where we are from. Traveling from our own conflicts to collective ones.
Through ‘body pictures’ (sounds or little movements could be included) we created stories to show and to claim our social conflicts. We focused it the work on the creative process and not on the result, trying to be able to speak about our community conflicts without words.

WHO AM I AS A FACILITATOR?
The role of the facilitator is a key element in Metamorphosis, so this workshop was based on an experiential and conscious reflection on who we are as facilitators, guided by different artistic mediators. A path inwards to connect with our lights and shadows, a space to look at ourselves and an opportunity for collective learning.

BUILDING COMMUNITY
This workshop had two objectives: to create alliances and to find the social conflicts that mobilise us as a group.
Through different artistic mediators we built a journey, starting from the individual to the collective, in which we connected with our values in order to find the social injustices we want to work with.
